New Friends New Life helps women who have been working as prostitutes, dancers, and in other sexually oriented busineses to create new lives for themselves and their children. We provide the skills, support, and resources for women to find other employment and make a fresh start. We believe that permanent change can only occur by addressing and meeting the needs of each area of a woman’s life. We find that significant, long-term change is best facilitated in a safe, non-judgemental environment with other women who not only share a common past but also the common desire for a fresh start.
New Friends New Life is a community of Christian women who care about one another. We recognize that women and children are the fastest growing population in poverty. We believe that tools like education and training will provide them with occupational options that can command dignity and self-sufficiency. We are women of faith who strive to demonstrate the love and character of Christ.
New Friends New Life began as a women’s committee of the Preston Road Church of Christ in 1998. Inspired by the plight of a former topless dancer named Amy, the organization provided financial assistance and referral services to women who contacted the committee for help in leaving sexually oriented businesses. The group acquired non-profit status in January 2000 as Amy’s Friends. Under the direction of one full time Program Coordinator and a cadre of volunteers and a Board of Directors, the committee/organization provided financial help to over 87 women in the first five years. While current information is not complete on all the early protégés (clients), we know that better than 85% have not returned to sexually oriented businesses.

Christ’s Family Clinic
This health care clinic for the working poor is located in the basement of the PRCC building. The CFC has been serving nannies, yard-workers, house-keepers and others who work in the Park Cities and North Dallas for almost five years. The clinic began when health providers from the Preston Road congregation came together to try and use their talents and gifts to help the under-served and uninsured workers who serve in our community.
All our doctors, nurses and support staff are volunteers, and our medicines come from donations as well. Clients of the CFC are sponsored through $25 per/month in support given by an employer, friend or concerned neighbor.
